What do people like (and dislike) about Jurmala?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Jurmala, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Jurmala, for its beautiful sandy beaches, picturesque wooden architecture, and serene natural surroundings. They appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, clean air, and the abundance of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and water sports. The city's well-developed infrastructure, including good public transportation, healthcare facilities, and a variety of shopping and dining options, also make it an attractive destination. Additionally, the relatively low cost of living and the availability of high-speed internet make it a suitable place for remote work. On the other hand, some expats and digital nomads may dislike the cold and dark winters in Jurmala, which can be quite harsh and limit outdoor activities. The language barrier can also be a challenge, as not everyone speaks English, and learning Latvian might be difficult for some. Furthermore, the job market in Jurmala may not be as diverse or competitive as in larger cities, which could be a concern for those seeking local employment opportunities. Finally, while the city offers a peaceful and laid-back lifestyle, some may find it too quiet and lacking in cultural events and entertainment options compared to bigger cities," remarked another expat in Jurmala, Latvia.
