What are medical services in Managua like?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Managua, they replied...

"Medical services in Managua, are a mix of public and private healthcare facilities. The public healthcare system, known as the Ministry of Health (MINSA), provides basic medical care to the population, but it is often characterized by long waiting times, limited resources, and understaffed facilities. On the other hand, private hospitals and clinics offer higher quality care, with more specialized services and better-equipped facilities. However, these private institutions can be expensive for the average Nicaraguan. Many expatriates and wealthier Nicaraguans prefer to use private healthcare services due to their higher standards. It is also worth noting that medical services in Managua are more accessible and advanced compared to rural areas of Nicaragua," explained one expat living in Managua, Nicaragua.
