What are medical services in Guatemala City like?
When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Guatemala City, they replied...
"Medical services in Guatemala City are a mix of public and private healthcare facilities. Public hospitals and clinics are often overcrowded and underfunded, with limited resources and long waiting times. Private hospitals and clinics, on the other hand, offer better quality care and modern equipment, but at a higher cost. Many doctors and medical staff in private facilities are well-trained and some even have experience or education from the United States or Europe. However, it is important to note that the quality of care can vary greatly between different private facilities. For serious medical conditions or emergencies, it is recommended to seek treatment at a private hospital or even consider medical evacuation to a country with more advanced healthcare services," commented one expat who made the move to Guatemala City, Guatemala.
