"Expats in Medellin recommend researching the area you are interested in living in before committing to a rental. It is important to visit the area and get a feel for the neighborhood. Additionally, it is important to make sure that the rental agreement is in writing and that you understand all the terms and conditions. It is also recommended to use a reputable real estate agent to help you find the right rental for your needs. Finally, it is important to be aware of the local laws and regulations regarding rental agreements and to make sure that you are in compliance with them," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Medellin, Colombia.
"The biggest problem for foreigners is the need for a fiador, someone who will be responsible for you paying your rent. We knew no one here and had to put up 6 months of rent as a deposit. But the housing is very good," commented one expat who made the move to Medellin, Colombia.
