"To apply for a visa in Abu Dhabi, you must submit an application to the Immigration Office with the required documents such as a valid letter of invitation and a valid passport. Depending on the purpose of visit, different types of visa would be issued. For example, if you are travelling for tourism purposes, you may opt for a short-term tourist visa which is valid for a maximum of 60 days. To apply for residency in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you need to have a valid passport and have already obtained an appropriate type of visa mentioned above. You have to submit an application for a residence visa at the Immigration Department of the Abu Dhabi Police along with the required documents. The application will be processed and an approval will be granted depending upon the visa type and other requirements. Once granted, the residence visa will be valid for a period of 3 years and can be renewed annually," explained one expat living in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
