What are the visa & residency requirements in Addis Ababa?

Answer this Question

We asked people about the visa & residency requirements in Addis Ababa, they wrote...

"Visitors to Addis Ababa must apply for a visa in advance of their trip from an Ethiopian consulate or embassy. Applications for visas must include an up-to-date passport, two photos, proof of payment for the visa fee, and a completed visa application form. Depending on the visa type, applicants may be required to provide additional documents as well. Generally, it takes 1-2 weeks to process the visa application. In order to apply for residency in Addis Ababa, applicants must have a valid Ethiopian visa. In addition to the valid visa, applicants must be able to prove they have a valid work permit, are self-employed, or have been in the country legally for three consecutive years or more. Required documents include a valid passport, housing documentation, work permit (if applicable), and legal documentation to confirm three year+ stay in Ethiopia. Processing time for a residency application is generally 4-5 months," explained one expat living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
