The visa process can be quite arduous, and many foreigners do a visa run to the border with Kyrgyzstan, which is quick and cheap," said another expat in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
"Applying for a visa to Almaty can be a relatively straightforward process. Citizens of certain countries may be eligible for a visa on arrival, while others will need to apply for a visa in advance. This can typically be done online, requiring documents such as a passport, proof of financial resources, a completed foreign visitor registration form, and a letter of invitation or a travel voucher. Depending on the purpose of travel, additional documents such as a business invitation may also be necessary. Applying for residency in Almaty, Kazakhstan is a more complex process. Applicants will need to provide documents such as a valid passport, birth certificate, visa, and marriage certificate, as well as proof of financial stability. After submitting the required documents, an applicant may be asked to appear for an interview. Depending on the purpose of residency, additional documents may be required. In some cases, a residence permit may be issued, which may require a foreign national to live in the country for at least 6 months out of a year," wrote a member who made the move to Almaty, Kazakhstan.
