"Live here with a temp visa FMM you get at the border when you cross, show your passport and cost is about $25. If you purchase property, same thing. Many people that rent, don't bother with getting a resident card, they stay under the radar. The foreigners like me, that work, must have one, either it's temp or perm resident card. In the old days you may have heard them called FM3 and FM2's," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
"Visiting Puerto Penasco, typically requires a visitor's visa if staying longer than 180 days. To apply for a visa, interested visitors must complete an application form, obtain a letter of sponsorship from family members or a Mexican business, provide their passport copy, a bank reference letter, and a round trip ticket to Mexico. To obtain residency in Puerto Penasco, interested visitors must apply at the immigration office and provide a valid passport, two passport size photos, Mexican bank account documents, medical report, original birth certificate and criminal background report. In addition to these documents, applicants should also provide a contract from an employer in Mexico, or documents that demonstrate economic solvency or proof of investments made in Mexico. Additionally, an immigration interview may be required. Approval of the residency application is subject to immigration authorities," commented one expat who made the move to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
