We asked people in Cyprus if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"It is important to be respectful of local customs and traditions when visiting Cyprus. Avoid making negative comments about the country or its people, as this can be seen as offensive. Additionally, it is important to dress modestly when visiting religious sites, as revealing clothing is considered inappropriate. It is also important to be aware of the local language and to avoid speaking loudly or using offensive language in public. Finally, it is important to be aware of the local customs regarding greetings and to avoid making physical contact with someone of the opposite sex unless it is a close friend or family member," wrote a member who made the move to Cyprus.
