What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Haiti?

Answer this Question

We asked people in Haiti if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"It is important to be respectful of Haitian culture and customs when visiting the country. It is best to avoid making any negative comments about the country or its people, as this can be seen as offensive. Additionally, it is important to dress modestly and to avoid taking photographs of people without their permission. It is also important to be aware of the local customs and to be respectful of religious beliefs and practices. Finally, it is important to be aware of the local language and to avoid using slang or profanity," remarked another expat who made the move to Haiti.
