What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Botswana. They wrote...
"Expats in Botswana often find the local culture to be quite different from their own, which can be challenging to adjust to. For example, the concept of time is often seen as more flexible than in other countries, and the concept of personal space is often much smaller. Additionally, the local language, Setswana, is not widely spoken outside of Botswana, so expats may find it difficult to communicate with locals. Furthermore, the local customs and etiquette can be quite different from what expats are used to, and it can be difficult to learn and understand the cultural norms," remarked another expat in Botswana.
