What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Myanmar. They wrote...
"Expats in Myanmar often find the local culture to be quite different from what they are used to. Many find the language barrier to be a challenge, as English is not widely spoken. Additionally, the local customs and etiquette can be difficult to navigate, as they are quite different from those of other countries. Expats may also find the local infrastructure to be lacking, as many services and amenities are not as readily available as they are in other countries. Finally, the political situation in Myanmar can be a source of stress for expats, as the country is still in the process of transitioning to a more democratic system," remarked another expat in Myanmar.
