What are healthcare services like in Cameroon?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Cameroon. They wrote...

"Cameroon has a public healthcare system that provides basic medical services to its citizens. The country also has a number of private hospitals and clinics that offer more specialized care. Healthcare services in Cameroon are generally of a lower quality than in other countries, with limited access to medical supplies and equipment. In rural areas, access to healthcare is even more limited, with many people relying on traditional healers for medical care. The government is working to improve healthcare services in the country, with initiatives such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, which provides access to healthcare for those who cannot afford it," remarked another expat who made the move to Cameroon.
