What are the schools in Albania like?
When we asked about the schools in Albania, they said...
"The American School of Tirana (AST) is one of the best international schools in Albania. Located in the capital city of Tirana, AST offers a comprehensive American-style education to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and offers a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for college and university studies. AST also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art. The International School of Tirana (IST) is another excellent international school in Albania. IST is a private, non-profit school that offers a comprehensive international curriculum to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools and offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art. The Bilingual School of Tirana (BST) is a bilingual school in Albania that offers a comprehensive bilingual education to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. BST is accredited by the Council of International Schools and offers a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for college and university studies. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art," remarked one expat living in with children attending .
"It's a good school but they do hold the students and parents accountable. They use an online grade/homework (EngradePro) system to monitor grades and also use an additional online science program so internet access is a must. Like I said before the MAP program is nice to show your students progress. This appears to be the only school in the city that just doesn't change grades to make parents happy so don't enroll if you expect special favors. The academic director is former US military so everyone is treated the same and the students all have the same right to learn. Your child is special, but so is everyone elses :)," said one expat in Tirana with children at Albanian International School.
