When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Austria, they said...

"It is important to have a good knowledge of German if you plan on moving to Austria as most of the population speaks German. Before making the move, research the cost of renting a home in the area as well as obtaining basic necessities. Additionally, it's helpful to become familiar with the work regulations and visa requirements for residents, as well as the taxation system in Austria. Furthermore, familiarize yourself with the culture and customs of Austria to make sure that your stay is as smooth as possible. Austria is a safe country, however it is important to stay informed of local news and any potential threats. Finally, consider enrolling in courses to learn more about the country," commented one expat who made the move to Austria.

"Prepare to learn this language, and this slang. Go to the district office for help in finding a place, but do this as soon as possible, also look in the paper, or go to virtual vienna site, there is alot of help there," remarked another expat in Graz, Austria.
