What do I need to know before moving to France?
When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to France, they said...
"Expatriates should research French Visa requirements in regards to their intended length of stay and activities they would like to undertake while living there. It is also important to learn the French language or to understand basic French language phrases as English is not as widespread as in other countries. Expats should also familiarise themselves with French culture and customs and be aware of the many social and cultural differences between France and their home countries. Additionally, expats should take time to research the various cities and regions of France to determine the best area for their needs and lifestyle. Finally, it is important to become familiar with the French healthcare system and to know how to access services and social benefits," remarked another expat who made the move to France.
"So many beautiful areas in France - so many people spend months finding a house - stick to one area and search," explained one expat living in Eymet, France.
