Consideration should be given to the cost of living, access to public transportation and local amenities. Learning the language can be beneficial to making the most of living in Ireland as a retiree. Depending on the desired location, different visas and residency permits might be needed. It is important to check the visa and residency requirements before retiring in Ireland. Retirees may consider joining clubs and organizations to make new friends, form social networks and take part in activities. Finally, those retiring in Ireland should be aware of the importance of succession planning to ensure that their wishes and assets are passed on in the way they desire," commented one expat who made the move to Ireland.
