As a foreigner living in Illinois, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Illinois if they have access to public healthcare in Illinois. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"Yes, as a foreigner living in Illinois, you will have access to public healthcare. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services provides a variety of health care services to eligible individuals, including Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and All Kids. These programs provide access to health care services such as doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, vision care, and mental health services. The quality of care provided by these programs is generally good, and the cost of care is usually lower than private insurance," commented one expat who made the move to Illinois.
