Are foreigners allowed to own property in Michigan?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Michigan if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Michigan. Non-U.S. citizens are able to purchase real estate in Michigan, just like any other U.S. citizen. However, they may need to obtain a valid visa in order to purchase property in the state. Additionally, they may need to obtain a tax identification number from the Internal Revenue Service in order to purchase property," explained one expat living in Michigan.
