Are foreigners allowed to own property in South Dakota?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in South Dakota if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in South Dakota. Non-U.S. citizens are able to purchase real estate in South Dakota, just like any other U.S. citizen. However, they may need to obtain a valid visa in order to do so. Additionally, they may need to obtain a tax identification number from the Internal Revenue Service in order to purchase property," explained one expat living in South Dakota.
