Are foreigners allowed to own property in Zambia?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Zambia if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Zambia. The Zambian government has put in place a number of regulations to ensure that foreign ownership of property is regulated and monitored. Foreigners are required to obtain a permit from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in order to purchase property in Zambia. The permit must be renewed every two years. Additionally, foreigners are not allowed to own more than 50% of the land in any given area. These regulations are in place to ensure that foreign ownership of property does not lead to the displacement of local communities," remarked another expat in Zambia.
