When we asked expats in Belgium if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Belgium. Non-residents of Belgium are allowed to purchase property in the country, however, they must obtain a permit from the local municipality in order to do so. Additionally, non-residents must also obtain a permit from the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to purchase property in Belgium. The permit is only granted if the buyer can prove that they have sufficient financial resources to purchase the property and that they have a valid reason for wanting to purchase the property," said a member in Belgium.
