Are foreigners allowed to own property in Laos?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Laos if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Laos. The Land Law of Laos allows foreign individuals and companies to own land and property in Laos, provided they obtain the necessary permits and licenses from the relevant government authorities. Foreigners are also allowed to lease land for up to 50 years, with the possibility of renewal. However, foreign ownership of land is restricted to certain areas, such as industrial zones, and foreigners are not allowed to own land in rural areas," explained one expat living in Laos.
