Are foreigners allowed to own property in Puerto Rico?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Puerto Rico if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rico government has established laws that allow non-residents to purchase and own real estate in Puerto Rico. Foreigners are subject to the same taxes and regulations as Puerto Rican citizens, and must obtain a valid tax identification number in order to purchase property. Additionally, foreign investors must obtain a permit from the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce in order to purchase property," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Puerto Rico.
