Are foreigners allowed to own property in Slovenia?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Slovenia if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Slovenia. Non-residents of Slovenia are allowed to purchase real estate in the country, however they must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Justice in order to do so. The permit is usually granted if the buyer can prove that the purchase is in the public interest or if the buyer is a foreign company or a foreign citizen with a valid residence permit. Additionally, foreign citizens must also register with the tax office and obtain a tax number in order to purchase property in Slovenia," said another expat in Slovenia.
