What do I need to know when buying property in New Jersey?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in New Jersey, they said...

"When buying property in New Jersey, it is important to research both the property and the surrounding area to ensure that it is suitable for your needs. It is also important to factor in any applicable taxes, in addition to any necessary home inspections and real estate fees. You should make sure that you understand the terms of any applicable warranties, and the timeline and costs associated with closing the sale. Additionally, be sure to familiarize yourself with any applicable state or local homeowner’s association (HOA) regulations. Finally, make sure to obtain title insurance to protect yourself against any issues with the previous owner’s title," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to New Jersey.
