What do I need to know when buying property in Florida?
When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Florida, they said...
"1. Before buying property in Florida, it is important to not only be aware of the local laws and regulations, but also be aware of the state taxes that may apply when buying and selling real estate. 2. It is important to know the current market value of the property you are looking to purchase, as well as any associated fees when purchasing the property. 3. If the property is encumbered be sure to research the documents related to the encumbrance and the applicable laws that may affect it. 4. Being familiar with potential lenders and the range of loan options available is also important when purchasing a property. 5. It is also a good idea to look into any potential insurance coverage that may be required when purchasing property in Florida. 6. Lastly, be sure to do an inspection of the property prior to closing on the purchase in order to make sure it meets your expectations," wrote a member who made the move to Florida.
