What are the visa & residency requirements in Maryland?

"In order to apply for a visa to enter Maryland, applicants must complete an online form and provide evidence of identity such as a passport, driver’s license, or birth certificate. Other documents may be estimated, such as evidence of onward travel and proof of sufficient financial resources. Applicants may also be asked to provide proof of medical insurance and a police clearance certificate. Once the application has been reviewed and approved by the Maryland Department of State, the applicant will be issued a visa. In order to apply for residency in Maryland, applicants must prove their lawful presence in the state of Maryland and fill out an application with the Department of Home Security. They must provide documentation that shows their status as a legal permanent resident, such as a passport, driver's license, or birth certificate. They will also need to provide supporting documents such as proof of employment, proof of income, and proof of address. After the application has been reviewed and approved, the applicant will be given a Maryland Resident Identification number which is used for identity and residency verification," explained one expat living in Maryland.
