Question on prosthetic arm

I am planning on living in Santo Dom. to start a three month stay in DR to see if is OK to live. I had an arm amputated a few years back and currently have a very expensive computerized prosthetic arm. Do you think it would be safe to take and just wear it during day in populated setting. (leave it in hotel/office when not wearing)? Also, OK to briing and leave laptop at hotel while I'm outexploring? I'm not sure but I will probably be in budget hotel or rent a room in home by beach, scuba, gym?
