Framed for Money in DR

Be advised...if you have a Dominican wife/girlfriend and others in the area are jealous you can be framed to get your money and get you kicked out of the country.
I was framed for assault on someone I don't even know.
One Haitian woman put two men up to writing statements for the police saying I hit one of them...It's all about the money, they are gonna be paid "restitution", the Policia Nacional are gonna pocket 3/4 of the thousands you will pay...There are good honest people in the DR, but the Policia Nacional's whole game is to steal a gringo's money. I guess at $170 a month salary it should be obvious why...Get the gringo, that is the attitude...Robberies, assaults, don't sleep without a machete or in an area without a security guard or behind a locked metal barricade at night...Young hoodlums with pistols and kitchen knives roam the streets at night in San Pedro and Boca Chica. You've been warned.
