What's up in DR 2024?

In the 80's I lived in the outskirts of SD for 6 years and I'm strongly considering coming back. I'm a 76 year old female living in the US but this last election? I feel like I need to return with my 37 year old adopted son who is Dominican by birth...I adopted him as an adult of 32 as a cure to his residency problems and he is by far the most kind and loving "kid" known to mankind! I want to come back but have no idea how the DR has changed in the last 40 years. I think it pretty safe to assume that the light/ele situation is still jodido..hahahahaha!...no worries that's what generators and filters for your cisterna are for. I am unfamiliar with how it is on the island these days...info from those who have been living there for years would be wicked helpful. Thanks in advance for any info guys!
