Immigrating to USA with a Parrot

Our family is going to be moving from Hampshire England to New Hampshire USA in the near future. Horses will be moving with us, which does not present too much of a challenge. However, we also have an African Grey parrot who is an integral part of the family. We don't want to see him suffer through a long quarantine, but that is looking like what may be on offer.

Has anyone moved to the USA with a parrot? If so, how was the experience and where did you get the best information about how to do the move for your feathered friend?
