55 retired - can I survive on $2,500?

All, I'm searching for a LA country to retire in. I have an early retirement income of $2,500 USD per month. I won't have insurance, so I will likely buy an international plan for $3-400 per month. So, with only $2,000 per month, could I survive in a cute 1-bedroom rental in a larger hub of a city? I prefer a bit of life, music, dancing, culture as opposed to a quiet, tranquil off the grid location.
Basically, will a single person do okay if they are minimalist on $2,000 in this country? Am I missing something obvious? Thank you :)
