Student Visa Cancelled without my knowledge

I'm hoping someone can offer some advice here.

I arrived 8 months ago on a student visa with my husband and 2 dependants.

My husband has recently been submitting documents for employee sponsorship through his work. Just to clarify, we've been working, paying tax, I've started a business, we have medicare, everything.

When the migration agent at my husbands work tried to submit his TSS visa, it turns out that our student visa was cancelled months ago.

The reason for this is that after it was granted we decided we needed more time to set up here, and for health insurance reasons we decided to apply for an evisitor visa aswell as the student visa. We were granted all the visas and had all the paperwork for both but apparently, the system should flag up the fact that when you apply for a new visa, it automatically cancels your other one. It never did and even now it still shows as every visa being granted.

We had no idea and no one in any government department has realised we are living here unlawfully.

It's a horrible situation and not our fault but we really need bridging visa C in order to gain a TSS visa and it's unlikely we can get that.

I wanted to go to the visa office in Perth with a bridging visa application and explain our full situation but our migration agent said to do this with caution, that they can detain you and this whole thing could spiral. If we do leave we need time to get our finances together to do so. Whilst I don't want to live here unlawfully, I can't leave here without a penny and two kids on board.

Has anyone been in a situation like this? It's turning into an absolute nightmare. Will the visa office help me???
