Hi everyone!
Maybe some of you had similar experience and could shed some light on your experience when you found out that it was time to leave the US and go back to Austria... We came to the US in 1981 to find our dream... After 30 years, having the only son and not a single relative on this continent, we want to go back and to make sure our son has family and support network after we leave this earth. I'm just a little consternated because, even though my hubby is from Austria, we've been here longer than there. Our son was born here. He understands German, but doesn't speak it...he wants to go there, but I'm not sure he'll adjust, being that he's in his late 20ties. Our current situation with work and other things forces us to make some choices and one of them is to move back. We have no idea where to start... did you bring your stuff with you? Was it expensive to move?what do you do with all the accumulated things in your life? How do you get started, find a place to live and a job, say in Vienna??? We are in our 50ties! and do not have college education. As many others we lost everything in the economical crash and need to start over. Can you give us some advice as what works here? Also if you moved back, what was your experience? Did you wish you didn't? Are you glad you did? Were you shocked culturally - things are different there and life will be different... Thank you for your input :)
