Cuba Ferry Service Status:
As of May 15 2016
We know everyone is waiting patiently for the start of ferry service from Florida to Cuba. Upon receiving approval from the US government in early May 2015, we had hoped to be able to start the service before the end of 2015. There are so many logistical issues in providing this service in a safe and secure manner on both the US side and the Cuban side that it is simply taking a lot longer to put everything in place than anyone originally had expected. This holds true for any company that has expressed interest, publicly or otherwise, in establishing ferry service to Cuba from the US. The main problem is that this service has not existed for over 50 years and the infrastructure required to handle the traffic is not in place. The US and Cuban governments are working towards this end and will be successful but it will take a bit of time. All of us at UCL will continue to work closely with the Cuban and American authorities to implement this service as soon as practical. I get asked all the time "when will the ferry begin?". My hope is we will find a way to get this started before the end of 2016. However, if you are planning travel to Cuba during the remainder of 2016 I would not count on any ferry service from any company being in place from Florida during that time frame. If you stay on Facebook often we will keep you updated. We will be sure to post the latest information on our website as the schedules are confirmed. Those of you that have signed up for our emails on this website will be the first to receive the information concerning the start of the ferry service to Cuba directly in your email account. We fully expect that the ferry to Cuba from Florida will begin no later than 2017 if not before.

Yucatan Mexico Ferry Service Status: For all my friends who have been so patient in waiting for the return of ferry service from Florida to the Yucatan, I have been working on this for quite some time and on several occasions thought we were ready to start. We have not given up and while it's been very disappointing to not be started already, there are signs that we still can get this going by the Spring of 2017. The peak season for all the snowbirds who go to Mexico for the winter is the fall for southbound trips and the spring northbound. Hopefully we will be able to get started for the peak Spring season in 2017. Keep close to the website for the latest updates. We will post them on Facebook as well.
