teaching in Bermuda

Hello everyone,

I have a job offer to teach middle school (grades 6,7, and 8) in Bermuda. The salary offer is $75,500. Housing will be covered if it goes beyond 25% of my salary (typically about $1800 a month). There are a number of deductions (pension, tax, etc.), which I think would amount to another $800 or so a month.
Here is my dilemma: would I be tight for cash? Would there be anything left to send home to my family at the end of the month? Would I be able to have a 'life' in Bermuda on what remains? Also, does anyone have any experience in the teaching business? I have only a few days to decide and I am perplexed? My wife would like to visit as would a collection of friends but I believe there are restrictions on family/friends visiting. And, would one go stir-crazy on this small island (e. g. I love NYC).
Thanks to all that offer information.
