A recent article in The Independent, quoting Numbeo and MoveHub, reported that Bermuda is far and away the most expensive place in the world to live, with a score of 144.88 on their cost of living comparison score. This is well ahead of Switzerland at 131.39, Iceland at 123.96 and Norway at 113.07. For comparison, Japan scored 86.58 and India scored 26.88.
The score is based on the cost of living in New York City, which has a score of exactly 100.00. That means Bermuda is roughly 44% more expensive to live in than the most expensive city in the U.S.
