Import tax

Can anyone help me with info on importing personal effects from Paris to Sao Paulo. I know that I have to apply for a CPF no. but do I have to pay import tax. I will provisionally have a tourist visa then I will 'uniao estavel' with my girlfriend and apply for a resident visa after. I know I will have to leave Brazil to get my resident visa but for the tax question no one seems to be able to tell me the answer.
