Moving to Salvador need advice on obtaining work and visas

Hello all,

I am planning to move to Salvador in January. I will be taking an ESL certification course before my move to increase my chances of obtaining a teaching position. I'm wondering how the visa situation will work. Is it possible to work on a tourist visa, which is what I've been reading. Is it really as simple as going to a neighboring country to renew it or do I have to get a company to sponsor me in order for me to get a work visa? Also, how might I go about obtaining legal residence? Is there a website that provides all of this information? Thanks for any help.
