Irish Citizen Marrying Brazilian Citizen

Hi,
I have a question. I am an Irish Citizen recently moved to Brazil. My partner and I plan on getting married in Ireland in 2010. He has suggested that we apply for a 'stable union' which will enable me to remain in the country (I currently only have a tourist visa). However, I am concerned that if we receive a 'stable union' we will not be able to get married in Ireland as we will already be married according to Brazilian law. Any information or contact greatly appreciated. Neve
