Transfering $US to Brazil

My wife, who is Brazilian, has a savings account in Brazil.

What is the best and/or least expensive and easiest way to transfer our funds? We plan to move to Brazil permanently in late 2010 but fear that inflation here will eat up quite a bit of our dollars if we wait more than a couple of months to convert our money to reals.

Does anyone have experience performing this transaction?
