getting married

I'm an American marrying a Brazilian. We are getting married in Brazil but have not done so in the US...we still have a few weeks in the US, would it behoove us to get married here, too? What are the disadvantages and/or draw backs?

I have researched a variety of web sites, but they all have different info.

Any thoughts are appreciated!
