taking a computer to Brazil

I have had several suggestions about taking my iMac to Brazil...someone said bring it on the plane...the airline told me that they cannot guarantee that I can bring it as carry on..the size of box is 22" x 24" x 9" ...does anyoner have any other sugestions...it is only 20 lbs... the USPS wants about $500 to ship it...fedex $600... UPS $600...what does anyone think about possibly getting an extra one way ticket for this computer.. I am looking fgor any suggestions ...I must purchase my round trip flight by midnight tonight May 12
