Planning a move to Brazil.

Hi folks. My wife and I are planning a move in the next few years to Brazil. I met my wife in Santa Barbara, California while she was studying here to learn english. We've been together now 5 years and its always been our dream to return to Brazil and be closer to her family. She is originaly from Recife which is in the more poor Northeast and I'm wondering how to go about starting to put feelers out for work. We would prefer to be in the Northeast but wherever we can find work enough to make a living and a safe environment we would be happy.

About me, I've been a financial adviser for the majority of my career here in the US, but recently own and operate my own insurance agency which is doing alright but not blowing up as I'd like it to. I have no formal college degree, just on the job training from my past career and current insurance business. I speak passable portugues, enough to travel about alone and be able to get my point across but not enough to fully avail myself as a fluent speaker.

My wife has her degree and specialization from Brazil in Tourism, Hotel/restaurant management or some such thing and is a native brazilian speaker as well as fluent in english.

Anyone have any tips for us as its been a dream of mine forever to live overseas in south america as my mother did for 12 years in Peru/Chile as a child. Her stories inspired me to travel and to fall in love with the girl of my dreams. This is my first posting so I'm hopeful I'll get some good advise and we can start to plan things out for our future and our family (currently no kids yet).
