90 days almost up. Options on Tourist visa

I'm a Canadian currently in Brazil on a tourist visa that has a 180 days maximum per year allowance, and 90 days stay maximum per entry.

I forgot about the 90 days maximum and realize that it is coming up fast in about 7 days. My plan was to stay here for another 2 or 3 weeks only. I don't know if it makes sense to go to the Military Police to ask for an extension., I'm reading various things that it will count towards my one time only 90 day extension which I don't want to waste if I am only staying an extra few weeks.

So, if I read the rules on the visa correctly, should I not be allowed to take a quick flight to Buenos Aires and stay for 2,3 or 4 days. (a visa run, I suppose they call it). Then fly back and re-enter on a new passport stamp valid for 90 days?

I am still within my 180 day allowance, so I don't see why there would be a problem. I can't find any information on the internet about how long I have to be out of the country before coming back in. There doesn't seem to be any restrictions on that on my visa. I am looking for advice as I am in a bit of a jam here....
