Hello everyone,
I moved from Melbourne, Australia to Sofia, Bulgaria about 11 years for ago since it was the birthplace of my parents, initially for a holiday. I fell in love with the city and the country in general. No other place in the world has virgin beaches, amazing mountain resorts, beautiful country side, towns with natural mineral spring spas, old towns with rich history spanning thousands of years, the list goes on and on.
I know how difficult it is to rent and purchase property in the capital- I tried for years, dealing with the same dodgy, unprofessional brokers & real estate agents who are only after money, offering terrible deals and hiked up prices- even though I speak fluent Bulgarian and have relatives living here. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "real estate agent license" in Bulgaria, so virtually anyone can claim to be one.
For anyone who is interested in renting or investing in property in Sofia- write me a message, tell me what you are looking for, we can meet up and I will be happy to explain the pluses and minuses of various suburbs, actual prices, expected (real) rent returns, to drive you around the city, and to offer any information you are interested in.
Generally speaking, the market was in a bubble since 2006-2007, which busted in 2010 with the prices going down as much as 40%. Since 2011 prices have been picking up again, and since last year, under priced property is impossible to find, as soon a nice property is on the market at a reasonable price it is picked up within a few days.
Even if you would just like information and have no plans to buy/rent, I will be happy to meet you over coffee or answer your emails and assist you with information in any way I can.
best regards
Stephen
