South Africans relocating to Canada

We applied for a federal skilled worker visa in August 2010. We were assured by our immigration attorneys that the processing time would not be longer than 12 months given the new legislation. However, our visa has still not been processed. I would like to know if any South African's are able to share some words of wisdom concerning the Pretoria visa office and processing times. We are desperate to get to Canada by December 2011 which is creeping closer and closer with no answer in sight :-(
