I am an Anglo-French academic who will be in Ningbo for 3 years from September 1st. I intend to learn spoken Chinese as soon as possible.
Could anyone be kind enough to answer my questions:
1. What is the social life like in Ninbgo for an expatriate?
2. I don't plan to have a car, is that a problem, should I plan to have my own car and change my mind?
3. I will work at tne University of Nottingham Ningbo and would like to live near campus, are there any areas you would recommend?
4. If anyone has a flat to let for 4500 RMB per month, I would be grateful.
5. If anyone is willing to befriend me, please contact me. Bear in mind that I am 56 so not so young...
6. Is there any kind of organisation I should join?
7. Would it be realistic to try to learn written Chinese within the 3 years of my stay (I might stay longer if I like it).
8. What is the most convenient main city to fly to from Ningbo to go to the UK (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing?)
9. Are there any web site where I can find out more about Ningbo (including apartment agencies)
