Searching/Advice/Opportunities

Hi everyone

I’m a 26 years old young man from Portugal. For more than a year now i have been searching for a Work/Job in Shanghai without success.

I did have made some search and send out some CV but still have many to send out and search for
Contact companies. Actually I never really stopped looking.
I’m Specialized in Telecommunications and Networking ( Equivalent to bachelors degree ) and with a very good knowledge in Electronics.( Professional school ).
I am currently employed back here and have a ok Job.
I have working experience since July 2004 in a few companies with different technologies and different areas but all related to Telecommunications and Networking so far.

I’m not used so much to ask for help in this situation as I have been for this whole time trying reach my intentions. But this time since I really want and have decided to move there. I am here asking for some help/advices/opportunities to be able to go there. I do not need to start there with a great work/Job since once I’m there will be easier and have more possibilities.
Also not necessarily need to be in my area of expertise, since I’m quite adaptable.
I’m also currently learning Mandarin ( but with so much work to do, my time is quite limited to study, but still I’m investing on it) .

Maybe this will not be so relevant for my intentions but I will say it anyway. I also have experience in travelling. I have been in the past, going around Europe for around 1 year in different countries, doing several things, like get to know culture, relate with people, talk, long walks, did fundraising door to door, got scolded, have meet nice people from different, cultures and nationalities. Also had very difficult times has I had very good ones too.
Also I have been in Japan, South Korea, China, and Malaysia in which this last one I spent 5 months.
I was not going around just for fun or tourism. I wanted to know all this countries, know the people and the culture. The real country and not just go to those wonderful tourist l places which everyone knows.
Even thought it was very hard sometimes, mostly in terms of monetary wise, the experienced were great where I could learn so much about cultures and people. The different ways of looking at the world, the different thoughts and ideas as well as ideals.
This was a great experience for my life, and as now I want to settle down, which I wish to settle down in Shanghai which is the place where I fell better, the place I felt I belong to.

The reasons I decided to move there are
- that I for a long time I like Chinese culture and been involved in various ways related to Asian culture in general ( since I was 14 years old ), being the Chinese one the one I like and respect the most.
Related to it is also the great development that it is having and with the wish and being part of it. In terms of traditional culture and the changes in it ( being also the, get along past and preset if you get me ).

- the other reason is that, it has been from quite some time in my life I feel “depressed” ( not in the complete real meaning of the word but more like, feeling I living in the wrong country, and this as been for a few years already ).
I have been around most countries in Europe and some in Asia, and the place I got really a good feeling was
in China. ( This may sound lame but is the my feeling )

- and the last but not least , well I do have a girlfriend there ( In Shanghai ), which I wish to join. Long distant relationships are very difficult and most times end up badly. I had one before but end up not well for both and I intend not to end up again like once before. Even if this time again things not work out (hopefully that would not be the case ), still want to be in China for the future.

I have been in Shanghai Before ( last time was quite recently ), and I did some search and go some places which gave me no reply yet. Also tried my embassy and some other departments which actually the embassy itself cannot do much to help neither they have much time for it.

I have no plans to give up on this as well as I’m serious about it.

If anyone have some advices/possibilities please let me know I will very much appreciate it….

Thank you all for reading and understanding

All the best to you all
